Lizzy Lovette, radio and television presenter
"I was a 2DayFM Black Thunder [promotions vehicle] pilot. I had just finished my media degree and thought it would be a great thing to do over the summer. We did a lot of promotion [including] three live daily crosses to the radio station where we'd give away freebies. It was like being Santa Claus.I got to go backstage with Kylie Minogue and interview her. I also met the Wiggles. The Black Thunders were like a family; we were a huge team. For my initiation I was dumped in a river somewhere in front of all my colleagues. The worst moments of the job, though there were few, were cleaning up the greasy barbecue after everyone had left for the day. Also, as we didn't have GPS navigation back then, we'd always get lost and stressed about getting to a certain suburb on time.My pay at the time went straight on rent. I don't think I made more than $13 an hour but I saved so much on food because all I ate was sausages for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was great to learn all about Sydney and know the people you are broadcasting and chatting to. We got thrown into so many broadcasting situations and I had to think on my feet all the time. It taught me a lot and really encouraged my future path in radio and television."Lizzy Lovette hosts Channel Nine's Music Jungle.
